New Regulations
As of 30th June 2022, new smart charge regulations have been rolled out throughout the UK by the government. This will help to disperse the time of day that vehicles charge – thus allowing the energy grid to maintain a responsible level of energy.
New Regulations
With the government’s goal of all new electric vehicles being emission-free by 2035, many drivers are switching to fully Electric Vehicles to meet the Government’s goal of zero emissions by 2050.
As the electric vehicle market grows, so does the demand for charging points. This puts a heavy demand on the National Grid, which is making amendments to tackle this head-on.
What does this mean for you?
These new regulations help distribute the times that customers are charging their vehicles. This is ensuring that not everyone is charging their vehicles at the same time. One of the ways this is done is by “off-peak charging”.
Going forward this not only means saving money by charging at a lower desired time but allows the grid to keep its power supply balanced.
